NEIL KOENIG - PRODUCER, DIRECTOR & JOURNALIST

Neil Koenig is a highly experienced, creative and versatile series producer, director, and journalist, working in TV, Radio and online, on a wide range of news, current affairs, history, business and other factual programmes.

Before joining Palio Films, he spent many years at the BBC where he devised, produced and directed dozens of series and programmes for various BBC TV and Radio networks, as well as writing online articles for BBC News. He has extensive experience of working with high profile hosts and contributors, including leading politicians and Fortune 500 CEOs. Examples of contributors to his programmes include Richard Branson, Reid Hoffman, Steve Jobs, Lee Kuan Yew, Michael Moritz, Elon Musk, TJ Rodgers, George Soros, Sidney Toledano, Meg Whitman and many more.

 Neil Koenig has worked on location across the globe, including in challenging environments such as the Nevada desert and the Arctic. He is skilled at working in a wide range of formats, including short and long form documentaries for TV and Radio, discussion, magazine and talk shows, and live broadcasting. He also has a great deal of experience of negotiating unique access to public and private enterprises and institutions, whilst producing BBC documentary series such as ‘The Old Lady’ (a look inside the Bank of England), ‘The Ramp’ (which followed the construction of an Intel multi-billion-dollar silicon chip fabrication factory), and ‘Quest for a Cure’ (the inside story of how Pfizer developed a drug to treat HIV).

 Other highlights include: leading the expansion of ‘The Bottom Line’ business discussion series with Evan Davis from BBC Radio to BBC TV; devising and series producing the economics series ‘Stephanomics’ with Stephanie Flanders for BBC Radio and TV; devising and series producing many series for BBC World News TV such as ‘CEO Guru’ and ‘The Life of Luxury’; producing and directing long form documentaries for BBC News and BBC World News such as ‘One Square Mile’ (the story of Silicon Valley’s “lucky’ building which launched startups such as Google and Logitech), and ‘China’s Billionaires Club’ (about an extraordinary club for wealthy Chinese entrepreneurs); and producing many BBC Radio series. such as ‘The Laboratory of Democracy’ (a history of American democracy), ‘Silicon Valley USA’, ‘The Longest Road’ (the story of the road stretching across Russia from St Petersburg to Vladivostok), and ‘The Global Selloff’ (a history of privatisation).
